Egress Windows

✅ Egress Window Installation & Emergency Escape Upgrades — Long Island & NYC

At MJG Contracting Corp., we specialize in installing code-compliant egress windows that transform basements and sleeping areas into safe, bright, and legally habitable spaces. Serving Nassau, Suffolk, and the Tri-State area, we bring licensed, professional craftsmanship to every installation—even when it involves foundation cuts and drainage wells.

🔎 What Is an Egress Window—and Why It Matters

Required by New York building codes in every basement bedroom or habitable below-grade space, egress windows ensure a safe emergency exit route.

Minimum code dimensions: net clear opening of 5.7 ft², at least 24″ in height, and 20″ in width. Grade-level or below-grade openings may qualify with 5 ft². Sill height must be ≤44″.

Basement installations require a window well of at least 9 ft², with a minimum 36″ projection and width. Wells over 44″ deep must include fixed ladders or steps.

Window operation must be key- and tool-free and comply with ASTM F2090 safety standards.
